Tactical Creativity..

Due to the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic, this year’s Annual Chicago Open was delayed from May 2020. As a result, the tournament was eventually held on the ICC online platform during Oct 9-11, 2020. The tournament format was: 7-SS, G/75+10.

One of our academy students participated and finished with 4.5 points out of 7. The opening of the game was a the Kings Indian defense, where white had an incredible missed opportunity. This analysis shows the potential for creativity & possible tactical brilliance.

While this tactical chance was very interesting, it is sometimes difficult to find these moves over the board. However, one should never rule out wild tactical ideas.

White to move and win

If you have found the solution on your own, congratulations!
