Due to the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic, this year’s Annual Chicago Open was delayed from May 2020. As a result, the tournament was eventually held on the ICC online platform during Oct 9-11, 2020. The tournament format was: 7-SS, G/75+10.
One of our academy students participated and finished with 4.5 points out of 7. The opening of the game was a the Kings Indian defense, where white had an incredible missed opportunity. This analysis shows the potential for creativity & possible tactical brilliance.
While this tactical chance was very interesting, it is sometimes difficult to find these moves over the board. However, one should never rule out wild tactical ideas.
